Fire Chief Michael Spielman and Department President Tim Baldwin
The Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department is Adams County's youngest fire department. The Department was organized in 1979 and started answering 911 emergency calls in March of 1985. We provide emergency services to the residents of Franklin Township and the surrounding area.  BVVFD averages 350 emergency responses each year.  We currently protect the Township with four pieces of apparatus for fire and medical emergencies. Our apparatus consists of  a 2008 Pierce Arrow XT Engine Tanker, a 1991 Pierce Arrow Engine Tanker, a 1975 Dodge Brush Truck, and a 2000 Ford F550
Swab Special Unit used for Rescue and Medical Emergencies. With the constant need for vehicle maintenance and upgrading of our apparatus and equipment, we hold many fundraisers throughout the year. Members and non-members are encouraged to help with and/or patronize these events. In 2001 we constructed a 10,000 square foot Activities Hall to hold our Fund Raising events in.  This Hall is also available to rent for your special occasions such as, wedding receptions, anniversaries, parties, family reunions, etc. Our members stay very busy with training and fundraising so that we can provide you with excellent emergency service in your time of need. Our slogan reflects the Department very well - "Neighbors Helping Neighbors". For information on volunteering or questions
about the Department, please contact Chief Michael Spielman or President Linda Spielman at 717-677-9234.
